Oktoberfest at Saint John Saturday, October 3, 2020 Postponed due to Covid-19
Saint John Lutheran Church of Hattiesburg is announcing the postponement of the 42nd annual Oktoberfest celebration which was to take place on October 3, 2020. “After much prayer and consideration for the safety and welfare of the general public, and for the volunteers from Saint John Lutheran Church, we have decided to postpone our Oktoberfest 2020 event in light of the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to John Karle, the congregation’s pastor.
Oktoberfest at Saint John Hattiesburg is regularly the first Saturday in October each year. The annual event celebrates the German heritage of Saint John Lutheran Church and others in Hattiesburg, while the proceeds are given back to community outreach and mission work in the Pinebelt, United States, and several foreign countries.
Saint John Hattiesburg recognizes with thankfulness how the Pinebelt has supported this event for many years. The congregation’s intention is to continue to support the community and missions in 2020 as we have in the past.
